Mary has always said that if it were up to her cooking abilities, her family would starve in a really cute kitchen! So now she's looking for your help. Mary Engelbreit Studios and Andrews McMeel are working on a brand new series of cookbooks, and we want to include recipes from you!

We're looking for the recipes that all your family and friends ask for time after time, the ones that have become your go-to staples whether you're entertaining or feeding your family.

We need recipes for books of “One Pot Meals” and “Family Favorites.” Please enter your best recipes in those categories using the online submission form. Submissions will only be accepted via this form or via U.S. mail to:

If your recipe is selected for publication, you will receive a copy autographed by Mary!

For "One Pot Meals," recipes could include any main course that is cooked or prepared all in one dish, such as skillet/wok meals, casseroles and other baked dishes, soups, stews, chillis, roasts, and entree salads. "Family Favorites" could be any category of main dish, side, salad, dessert, or snack that your family loves.

Recipes will be judged based on the taste, style, uniqueness, appearance, and whether they produce consistently good results during our editors' testing. The recipes must be original and should not have been previously published or received any awards or prizes. Also, please be sure to read the submission guidelines and official rules and regulations before submitting your recipes.

Some of these may seem obvious (we certainly don’t intend to demean your cooking skills!), but we ask that you follow these guidelines so that recipes will be uniformly formatted and easier to evaluate.

Quantities should yield approximately 4-6 servings.
Ingredients should be widely available in most supermarkets.
Please use only generic names for ingredients, rather than brand names. (i.e. simply “cheddar cheese,” rather than a specific brand of cheddar cheese.)
Measurements should be U.S. standard (not metric) and temperatures in Farenheit.
Please follow the format of this sample recipe for writing your measurements and instructions.

Please be sure quantities and measurements are clearly indicated (i.e., if 4 cans of corn are needed, how big should the cans be), as well as types of ingredients (i.e., fresh vs. frozen berries, salted vs. unsalted butter, fresh vs. dried herbs, whether apples should be peeled, sliced, diced, etc.).
Provide specific information for all equipment, such as size and type of pans.
If an ingredient is used more than once, please be sure to specify how the quantities should be divided.
We’d love to hear a personal story about the origins of the recipe, why your family likes it, or a good tip that you think would be helpful in preparing or serving the recipe, so please tell us in 50-100 words.

We strongly recommend that you test the accuracy of your measurements and instructions by asking a friend or two to test the recipes using different cookware, equipment, etc. before submitting them.
