I’m extremely excited and proud to have been asked to create a Limited Edition Collection of Cherry Chick jewelry for Mary Engelbreit. Mary’s whimsical illustrations came into my life way back in 1983 when I was a manufactures’ rep selling stationery products. I had the good fortune to meet Mary when she introduced her original line of greeting cards at the New York Stationery Show. From then on I was hooked on her cherries, checkerboards, and “Fried Egg Flowers”.
My love (addiction) of beads started with my very first job. I managed a store where we sold beads and taught classes in jewelry designing. It was a great first job and it afforded me the opportunity to travel the country to buy beads & findings to sell in the store.
I began making pieces of jewelry for myself but I soon found that people would often stop me to ask me about what I was wearing, where I got it, and would I make them one, too.
I have put a lot of love into this collection for Mary’s fans. The Checkered Swirl Necklace takes me over 3 hours to create just the hand stitched part. All of the pieces of jewelry were made by me, the Cherry Chick, here in the USA. Right here in my little home studio. I have some wonderful lampwork glass artisans to thank for many of the amazing beads I use in my designs. They, too, create right here in the USA. The only “assembly line” is right on my worktable.
So now you have the “Cherry Scoop” behind this cute jewelry. Go shop! Pin the photos to Pinterest and spread the word. There are only a limited number of pieces available per design. Once they’re gone I’ll get to buy some more beads to feed my “bead addiction”.
