Match right sides and use a 1/2’’ seam allowance unless otherwise indicated.
1. Using the patterns, cut a bag front and back from tweed, and then from the lining fabric. Cut a trim piece from teal felt, using scalloped scissors on the outer curved edge. Make short clips all along the inner curved edge. Cut the applique pieces from felt.
2. Layer the appliques on the bag front; needle felt the pieces in place and press, using a pressing cloth.
3. Embroider the appliques, using 3 strands of floss for straight and satin stitches on the flower center and 6 strands of floss for backstitches around the paisley design and for the leaf vein.
4. Sew beads to the appliques and bag front.
5. With the scalloped edge to the inside, pin the trim to the bag front and baste. With right sides together, pin one flange of the opened zipper to the straight edge of the bag front; sew in place using a zipper foot. Sew the remaining flange to the bag back. Sew the bag front and back together along the curved edges. Turn the bag right side out.
6. Sew the lining pieces together along the curved edges. Do not turn right side out. Press the top edge 1/2’’ to the wrong side. Slip the lining inside the bag and whipstitch the pressed edge to the bag.
7. For the zipper pull, cut 2 flowers, flower centers, and leaves from felt. Cut an additional pink flower with an attached pink leaf for the base. Fold the ribbon in half, thread one end through the zipper pull, and glue the ends to each side of the base near the leaf. Glue one flower, center, and leaf on each side of the base.
