How comforting these adorable night lights are. This is the kind of project that becomes easier and faster to make in quantity, so you might consider an assembly line. The shades have been designed so they can be changed for every season or occasion.

Where might you go in your community to gain a better understanding of the characters and situations in your book?

After reading John Steinbeck’s The Red Pony, you might want to visit a horse stable or farm. Have you just finished Because of Winn-Dixie? Why not take a field trip to the local animal shelter to learn about stray dogs? If you loved A Single Shard, you might want to tour your local art museum to see examples of teh celadon pottery that the characters make.

Field trips don’t have to be expensive, and they can be within walking distance of your school or home. Learning about a new place related to your book can deepen your understanding of the world.
