Enter Your Recipes for Mary Engelbreit’s New Slow Cooker Cookbook!

Mary Engelbreit Studios is getting ready to publish a brand new cookbook, and we want to include recipes from you! We are now accepting submissions for “Slow Cooker” recipes.  Please enter your best recipes in this category using the online submission form.  Submissions will only be accepted via this form or via U.S. mail to:

Mary Engelbreit Cookbooks
Andrews McMeel Publishing
1130 Walnut Street
Kansas City, Missouri 64106

Those who submit the recipes selected for publication will receive two copies of the cookbook autographed by Mary Engelbreit when it is published!

Recipes that our testers find to be the most delicious (of course!) and the easiest to consistently repeat will be given preference.  The recipes must be original and should not have been previously published or received any awards or prizes.  Also, please be sure to read the guidelines and Official Rules and Regulations before submitting your recipes.

A slow cooker can be used for just about any recipe!  Here are some different categories to think of when you go through your favorite recipes (of course, don’t feel limited by these–the options are endless!):

            • one-pot meals
            • roasts
            • 5 ingredients or less
            • ethnic foods
            • chilis
            • soups, stews, chowders
            • sides
            • appetizers & snacks
            • desserts

Cookbook Recipes Submission Guidelines

Some of these may seem obvious (we certainly don’t intend to demean your cooking skills!), but we ask that you follow these guidelines so that all the recipes in the cookbook will be uniformly formatted.

- Quantities should yield approximately 4-6 servings.

- Ingredients should be widely available in most supermarkets.

- Please use only generic names for ingredients, rather than brand names. (i.e. just “cheddar cheese,” rather than a specific brand of cheddar cheese.)

- Measurements should be U.S. standard (not metric).

- Please follow the format of this sample recipe for writing your measurements and instructions.

- Please be sure quantities and measurements are clearly indicated (i.e. if 4 cans of corn are needed, how big should the cans be), as well as types of ingredients (i.e. fresh vs. frozen berries, salted vs. unsalted butter, fresh vs. dried herbs, whether apples should be peeled, sliced, diced, etc.)

- Provide specific information for all equipment, such as size and type of pans.

- If an ingredient is used more than once, please be sure to specify how the quantities should be divided.

- We’d love to hear a personal story about the origin of the recipe, why your family likes it, or a good tip that you think would be helpful in preparing or serving the recipes, so please tell us in 50-100 words.

- We strongly recommend that you test the accuracy of your measurements and instructions by asking a friend or two to test the recipe using different cookware, equipment, etc. before submitting it.

Official Rules and Regulations

- Mary Engelbreit Studios (MES) and Andrews McMeel Publishing (AMP) are under no obligation to publish any submitted recipe.

- All recipes must be original creations.  Recipes that have been previously published, or that have won any awards or prizes will not be considered.

- Entrants must be legal U.S. residents and 18 years of age or older.

- Submissions must include the entrant’s first and last name, address, phone number, a working email address, date of birth, recipe description, ingredients, and cooking instructions via this form or mailed to:
